|11 January, 2001 - objects / still life
OK, so these aren't actually still life compositions. They are objects d'art we acquired from various dealers at the place where all great and affordable art comes from - the flea market.
I title this small sculpture "a confused monkey". Two of them seem to have got it right - see no and speak no evil. The third one (on the left) has one hand over his eye and the other over his mouth. I guess it's ok if you hear evil.
Jack has quite a collection of pigs. This one is my favorite. He is the pepper half of a salt and pepper shaker set. I like him best because he is quite dapper and because I found him.
An ornate dancing doll. She is very detailed - even has tiny orange fingernails. She sits on top of my monitor.
Ceramic figure of an old oriental guy. I think he should be holding a fishing pole. He sits on the windowsill in the kitchen and usually holds a toothpick where his fishing pole should be.
The wooden base of this figure has "RIO" printed on it. He is a wire frame covered in fabric. Sporty striped shirt. He looks a little like Al Jolsen in black face. Mammy!
